Torrevieja May Fair 2023.
The May Fair says goodbye until further notice of its traditional location in the port, next to the traditional amusement park. The works of the new leisure area that are called to give a new impulse and greater attractiveness to the maritime façade of Torrevieja will leave this celebration of exaltation of Andalusian culture in a "tribute", as announced on Wednesday by the City Council.
The event that brings together a multitude of visitors from the province and the Region of Murcia will be reduced this edition to just seven booths. All of them with their colorful striped prints and that sky of bulbs that will illuminate a space this time somewhat more constrained.
According to the Councilor for Fiestas, Concha Sala, this tribute to the May Fair will be inaugurated in the Parque de la Estación from the afternoon of Thursday, May 11, and will run until the early hours of Sunday afternoon, May 14.
The facilities, details the mayor, will be decorated in the Andalusian style "by the local groups that usually participate in the Fair and have wanted it not to pass by this year without making a nod to this popular party that has so much roots in Torrevieja".
In this sense, Sala highlights the importance of the local world of dance academies and schools that will be able to offer the assemblies and choreographies of the fair that they prepare every year. For this, a stage will be installed that will host the performances of the schools 'QK', 'Arantxa Blanco', 'Paya's', 'Mery Dance Academy', 'Souldance' and the Municipal School of Dance.
The Station Park will thus have the same musical atmosphere that will sound the entire enclosure, as well as a decorative lighting is also prepared, added the City Council.
Mecano, at the Municipal Theater
The fair will also coincide with the arrival of the musical Cruz de Navajas at the Municipal Theater. The City Council announced last month that Torrevieja would be the first Spanish city to host after Madrid and Barcelona this function that reviews the trajectory of the Mecano group.
The musical, which brings together a team of more than 100 people who will perform 35 of the best known songs of the people of Madrid, will thus be the other great claim that will host the salt city those four days. Tickets are on sale on the website www.culturatorrevieja.com
